Nodar Surguladze

ECE Project Local Coordinator

Nodar Surguladze has served as the ECE Project Local Coordinator at San Diego State University in Georgia since November 2023.

Prior to this role, he held the position of Tertiary Education Project Director at Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia (MCA-Georgia) from 2012 to 2019 and served as a Tertiary Education Director at Millennium Foundation (MF) from 2019 to2023.

From 2008 to 2012, Mr. Surguladze was the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, overseeing Higher Education and Science in the country.

Before his tenure at the ministry, from 2006 to 2008, Dr. Surguladze was the Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biological Physics. Concurrently, he worked at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University administration, in the Department of Scientific Research and Development.

Dr. Surguladze is an alumnus of Georgia, holding a Master's degree in Biophysics (TSU, 1995) and a PhD in Molecular Biology (2001, Academy of Science of Georgia). Between 2002 and 2005, he conducted postdoctoral research and was a visiting Research Scholar at the College of Medicine at Pennsylvania State University, USA. He is the co-author of more than 20 scientific publications in various journals, an author of intellectual property, and was a member of international scientific societies from 2004 to 2006.
